Gillespie, William Patrick – 70, passed away on May 25, 2019 from Lewy Body Dementia. He was with his wife Jeannie of 47 years and his family when he passed. Gator Bill (as he was known as) was born on March 17, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Lya and William H. Gillespie.
He graduated from Brandon High School and went on to join the U.S. Navy. He was a gunners mate aboard the USS Sampson. After his service to our country he came back to Brandon and attended Hillsborough Community College. Moving his family to Marietta, Georgia he worked at the Atlanta Airport for a vending company. He spent half of his life in Georgia before moving back to Brandon in 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws E.C. and Lola Naslund and his beloved dogs Chivas and Gator. He is survived by his wife Jeannie; daughters Tammy Lynn King (Rhonda Webb) of Burton, MI; Tonya Renee Pinyan (Ken Meizlik); his only grandson, Austin Shane Pinyan of Canton, GA; his sister, Carol Olive; niece Tina Louise Vega (Emil Escarraman); sister in-law, Shirlee Minter; nephew, Michael Minter (Melati and children Claire, Joel and Grace); brother in-law Glenn Naslund; nephew Eric Naslund; extended aunts, cousins, friends and his dog Tebow.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was loved by all that knew him.
He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Bushnell on June 14th at 11am. A Celebration of Life will be held at Brandon Event Space on June 15, at 11am – 2 pm (137 S. Parsons Ave, Brandon, FL 33511)
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made in William (Bill) Gillespie’s name to either the VA or to Sun City Center LifePath Hospice, both of which took wonderful care of Bill and helped our family.
