Obituary for MICHAEL THOMAS MILNAMOW

Michael Thomas Milnamow, 76, of Valrico, Florida died on August 18, 2019 surrounded by his wife of 40 years and two daughters.

Michael was born on December 3, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to Eugene and Helen Milnamow. He grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and graduated from Ripon College, Wisconsin with a degree in Economics in 1964. He received his commission to the U.S. Army through the ROTC program, began his career as a Second Lieutenant, and became a Military Intelligence Officer. He served two tours in Vietnam and his military awards included two Bronze Star Medals. After 26 years of honorable active service, he retired at the rank of Colonel in July 1990. He continued his career of public service with the Florida Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2011.

Michael enjoyed classic cars, foreign travel, and keeping up with his local sports teams. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family – attending all his daughters’ school and sports events, traveling the world with his wife Pippa, and in recent years playing and reading with his two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William McMurray; and his sister, Mary Ellen Greifenkamp.

Michael is survived by his wife, Philippa Milnamow; his daughters, Lisa Wayne (Spencer) and Tracey Milnamow; and grandsons Graham and Miles Wayne.
