John Charles Huetten died peacefully on Thursday, March 7th in Tampa, FL at the age of 81.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Carole, in January 2017; and by his parents, John and Margaret Huetten, and his sister, Carolyn Korbal. He is survived by his sons, Ed (Sharon), Tampa, and Ken (Lana), Eagan, MN, his daughter, Valerie, Chicago, four grandchildren: Jenna, Shane, Makenna and Cole, and several nieces and nephews.
John was born September 9th, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from St. George High School in 1955. John met his wife Carole at a community dance in 1959 and they married in June 1961. John and Carole were married for 55 wonderful years beginning their lives together in the Bridgeport area of Chicago from 1961-1963, then living in Dolton, IL from 1964-1989, Crown Point, IN from 1990-2004, Zephyrhills, FL from 2005-2018, and most recently moved to Tampa.
John served in the U.S. Army, Illinois National Guard Division, from 1960-1966. John had a career in the retail and wholesale merchandising industries, working at Walgreens, Model Foods Supermarket and establishing his own business as a partner at Quality Hosiery in the Chicago area. Following his sales career, John kept busy with various part-time jobs; including blackjack dealer, real estate agent, school bus driver, golf course maintenance and RV transporter. He loved all sports and was an avid fan of all Chicago teams; he played basketball for many years, golfed his entire life, and coached Little League Baseball for his sons. John enjoyed playing dominoes and card games, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with his many friends throughout his life in Illinois, Indiana and here in Florida.
