Gladys Alvarez-DeMena 69, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018. She was surrounded by family and loved ones during the wake of her passing as family both cried and laughed at her bedside while sharing personal stories of her extraordinary and remarkable life. She wanted loved ones to know and remember, She was proud of her successes and tribulations.’’ They taught me patience, forgiveness, and to never harm others.” She lived her life to the fullest, and was devoted to accomplishing what she set her mind to. She made positive impacts in the lives of many, who will miss her love of dancing, laughing, smiling and cooking food…with love.
Gladys was born December 28, 1948 in Havana Cuba. She was the founder and owner of Tapas Spanish Café, still standing in Brandon Fl. She is survived by her children: Robert Mahoney, Karin Estrada, Maite Olivero and Lizardo Estrada III and her eight grandchildren: Alek Estrada, Kyana Barnes, Jaylin Estrada, Ciera Mahoney, Brockton Estrada, Joseph Olivero, Lizabel Estrada, and Jaxon Mahoney. She is also survived by her two brothers Humberto Arturo Alvarez-DeMena, Miguel Alvarez-DeMena and lastly, by her purest love, friend and father of her children, Lizardo Estrada II.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018, 12 P.M., at the Nativity Catholic Church, located at 705 E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Fl 33511. Family will begin receiving family and friends for a Celebration of Life to meet her final wishes of fun, laughter and dancing soon after mass from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. near the church.
