Obituary for Donald “Don” Tanner

Donald (Don) Tanner 91,  of Ruskin for years & later Riverview, passed away Friday, Aug 21, 2020, after  a year long of illness.

He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Betty; his beloved cat, Foots, and many, many friends.

Born  and raised  in Dover, Florida  Don later moved to Tampa.  He was  preceded  in death by  his father, Benny Tanner,  and his mother, Mary Mallard.
In his early years, Don helped his  parents in  their straw & vegetable farms.  He then moved on to work for Western Auto before opening  his own store with brother, Bob. They eventually split partnership. He then bought R & W Auto parts in Gibsonton in 1972, which he ran until his retirement in 2000.  Don loved to fish, working it in whenever time permitted.  In his retirement, he was able to fish in Stenhatchee with  his friends. He took pride in his business and relished the many friends he made during his  business years.
 A memorial will be held Thursday, Sept 3rd 11:00 A.M. at the Showman’s Club, 6915 Riverview drive, with  Bro Malcolm Clements officiating.  All friends are invited.
Please come  dressed casual.  Don wasn’t  one to  dress up.
